Graduation Project | B.Des. in Visual Communication | Shenkar College

KOLBO is a conceptual grocery cooperative developed as my graduation project at Shenkar. Inspired by Israel's austerity period of the 1950s, the project reimagines the idea of rationing through a contemporary, community-driven approach, replacing scarcity with conscious consumption, fairness, and shared responsibility.
The project challenges modern consumer culture by encouraging people to purchase only what they actually need, reducing unnecessary consumption and food waste. By connecting consumers directly with manufacturers and removing supermarket intermediaries, KOLBO aims to create a more affordable, transparent, and sustainable alternative to traditional grocery shopping.

Built around a cooperative model, KOLBO encourages community participation and collective decision-making. Members pay a symbolic monthly fee and receive points to purchase groceries through a dedicated app, where they can customize their orders according to their personal needs. Once a week, orders are packed into individual wooden crates and delivered to nearby collection points.
The visual identity draws inspiration from the graphic language of Israel's austerity era, combining bold geometric typography with a vibrant color palette inspired by primary colors. Each color represents a different food category, creating a recognizable and functional system across the products.

The packaging was designed as a modular system, allowing different-sized products to fit efficiently together inside the wooden crates and storage spaces. This approach saves space, simplifies distribution, and connects the visual identity with the cooperative's practical and sustainable values.
